Why We Protest
For decades, Congo’s suffering has been met with global silence. Peaceful protest is one of the most powerful ways to break that silence, make the crisis visible, and center Congolese voices in public spaces. Demonstrating together - with dignity and determination - creates moral pressure on governments, institutions, and corporations that have ignored or enabled the violence. Protest transforms isolation into solidarity, and solidarity into action. When people gather, the world is forced to listen.
Making Congo Visible in Public Spaces
Peaceful demonstrations, vigils, marches, sit-ins, artistic actions, and community gatherings bring Congo into the global conversation.
By occupying public spaces, we challenge indifference and show that the world is watching.
Goal: ensure that Congo’s suffering is no longer hidden, dismissed, or forgotten.
Mobilizing Collective Pressure
Protests have the power to shift political will. When communities gather, they send a clear message to governments and institutions: silence is no longer acceptable.
CAN protests amplify demands for accountability, justice, and concrete action from those in positions of power.
Every protest becomes a reminder that global citizens refuse complicity.
Centering Congolese Voices and Stories
Protest is also a space for dignity and truth. We uplift the voices of survivors, families, diaspora communities, activists, and young people who refuse to let the world ignore a decades-long genocide.
Through speeches, testimonies, art, music, and collective presence, CAN protests honor the resilience of the Congolese people and demand a future free from violence.
